馬來亞銀行近日通知其所有指定律師，從今年7月1日起，馬來亞銀行將修改委任指定律師的標準，並給現有指定律師樓直到2008年7月1日期限以符合新規定，包括律師樓擁有至少3位合作伙伴，其中至少1名為土著伙伴及有關土著伙伴在公司擁有至少50%股權。

大馬律師公會指出，除了馬來亞銀行，另一家主導銀行也將落實類似的規定。大馬律師公會也對這項決定感到不滿，因為根據估計，至少有半數大馬律師樓無法符合相關銀行發出的規定。

據大馬律師公會估計，本地60%為小型律師樓，約50%律師樓是由個人單獨擁有，而3位及以上合作伙伴的律師樓僅佔20%。(What's hell?)
